The Lord has blessed our family with four beautiful children. Two of our children joined our family through the precious gift of adoption. The purpose of this blog will be to share with you any prayer requests or new and exciting adventures on which the Lord may take us as a family. Of course any updates on any of our children will also be posted! Thank you for continuing to follow our family and support us in prayer.
Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. Psalm 127:3

The Results from the Pediatric Hematologist
After over a week of making several follow up calls to our doctor to find out if we had an appointment set with the pediatric hematologist for Jaydon, I finally got the answer today!! This afternoon our doctor called and said that they had sent a copy of all of Jaydon's lab work to a pediatric hematologist in Wichita. The specialist reviewed the results and determined that she did not need to see Jaydon. Jaydon is fine and does not have the sickle cell disease!!! He does however have the trait. The trait simply means that he should not suffer any ill results, but that he could pass along the trait and/or disease to his children, should the Lord tarry. So, we praise the Lord for the positive results and thank Him for once again protecting our little boy!! Thank you for praying with us!

Jaydon's "Hidden" Lab Results -- Not So Positive
Well....my gut instincts that something was found in Jaydon's lab results since the nurse called was correct. :( I received a copy of the lab work results and there were some labs that didn't look right to me so I called this morning to talk to our nurse about it. We were not sent all of the lab results. I am kinda wondering if the doctor on call had access to them since they didn't say anything about them. Jaydon's hemoglobin is still high, so they are wanting to refer us to a pediatric hematologist. There aren't any here in Hutchinson, so they are going to try to find one in Wichita and if not there, on to Kansas City. I do not have the lab work that has the test results for the sickle cell test or the hepatitis so I don't know how out of range the labs are, but it is enough of a concern for our doctor to get things double checked. His platelets on the lab work that I did receive were elevated so that was a concern for me (which is why I called) and apparently so....we could be dealing with sickle cell. :( The hepatitis tests all came back negative, but the nurse made it sound like we may have to retest him for that later. I am guessing they will use this test as a marker for where his levels are so that the next test can show them if the levels have remained the same.
So now, I wait for our nurse to call us back with the details as to where and when the appointment with the pediatric hematologist will be. I am so thankful I called the nurse back today!
I have been watching a fellow adoptive mother who has a daughter with sickle cell and it is just heart wrenching what this little girl has to endure. It tears my heart to think that my little man could be in pain, if not now, but later, if he would end up having the disease. All in all, God is in control and He will give us the strength. With everything going on in our lives over the past week, I am just worn out. Jesus will give us strength, I just need to rely on Him! This does not automatically mean that Jaydon does have the disease, but we are proceeding with testing to find out if he does.
Thank you for praying! I will let you know when the appointment will be so that you can be joining us in prayer.
